Allegheny County Police say alcohol may have played a role in Thursday’s crash in Penn Hills that left a 33-year-old man dead.

The incident occurred about 4:30 p.m. on Frankstown Road near Advanced Auto Parts, that resulted in the road being closed for several hours.

According to police said a 48-year-old man, whose name has not been released, was driving a pickup truck eastbound on Frankstown when he veered into the opposite lane and struck an SUV head-on.

The driver of the SUV was taken to a hospital where he died; the driver of the truck was taken to a hospital in stable condition.

The deceased man has not been identified.

Police said they plan on turning over their findings to the Allegheny County District Attorney’s Office once their investigation is completed.
