The woman charged in last Friday’s carjacking and stabbing of a Pittsburgh man with a screwdriver has been arrested in North Carolina.
According to the Mecklenburg County Sheriff’s Office, 38-year-old Marin Oreski was arrested by the Charlotte Mecklenburg Police Department early Wednesday morning after she was allegedly involved in a traffic accident.
Pittsburgh police alleged in a criminal complaint that Oreski stabbed David Legrande with a screwdriver after he gave her and a male companion a ride from a Downtown bus stop to the Oakland area.
Legrande told police that he gave Oreski, who he has known for two years, $50 after dropping the pair off on Deraud Street. After she got out of the car, Oreski stabbed him several times with a screwdriver and with the help of the unidentified male forced Legrande into the trunk of his car, police said.
Legrande was able to escape by using the emergency latch and flagged down police. He told police that Oreski was trying to get to Florida to visit her kids.
According to online information posted by the Mecklenburg County Sheriff’s Office, Oreski was in custody and is awaiting an extradition hearing. From a review of online court records, it does not appear that she is facing additional charges in North Carolina.
