Police say a 27-year-old Arnold woman beat and scratched her 6-year-old autistic son because he pooped in his pants.
In a criminal complaint police said they received a report Saturday that Elena Lovorn hit, beat or scratched the boy in a bathroom after she saw that he defecated in his pants.
A witness told police that Lovorn had taken the boy into a bathroom to clean him up and that is when she allegedly hit, beat or scratched him.
The witness showed police pictures she took of the boy with scratches on his neck, a bloodied lip, and injuries to his eye and behind his right ear, the complaint said.
The child did not have any injuries before Lovorn took him into the bathroom, the complaint said.
Another witness told police she heard the boy screaming from inside the bathroom and when Lovorn and the child came out the boy had a black eye, a swollen lip and cuts to his neck and behind his ear.
Police alleged in the complaint that they observed the injuries on the child that matched the pictures they were provided.
Lovorn faces felony charges of strangulation and endangering the welfare of children and misdemeanor charges of reckless endangerment and simple assault.
She is scheduled to appear for a preliminary hearing on Jan. 31., and remains in the Westmoreland County Prison after failing to post a $100,000 bond.
