A Hill District man is in custody after Pittsburgh police allege he stole a gun and pointed it at police.
A criminal complaint alleged police responded to a home in the 2600 block of Centre Avenue at approximately 1:35 a.m. Sunday for a reported robbery.
A witness later identified Larry Sanders, 35, as the man who allegedly stole the gun. A short time later, police saw Sanders walking near Wiley Avenue and Kirkpatrick Street.
As police activated their flashers and approached Sanders “he pulled a gun and then aimed it at officers, then ran,” police said.
After a short foot pursuit police were able to catch Sanders and detained him at Kirkpatrick and La Place Street. While retracing his steps police recovered a handgun near Wiley and Kirkpatrick.
Sanders is currently in the Allegheny County Jail on charges of robbery, aggravated assault, carrying a firearm without a license, reckless endangerment and tampering with evidence.
His preliminary hearing is scheduled for Jan. 8.
