Ambridge police have charged a 31-year-old man with homicide after he shot and killed two men he claimed assaulted him outside a Sunoco A-Plus Mini Mart early Friday morning.
Police alleged in a criminal complaint Brandon Lee Richardson, of 1008 Bernadina Ave., admitted to shooting the two men shortly before 2:30 a.m. saying, “They jumped me,” and “I never did anything like this.”
Video surveillance obtained by police shows Richardson being assaulted by five people, including the two men who were killed.
Police identified the victims as Brandon Everett and Lamar Seymour. Three other Ambridge residents have been charged with assaulting Richardson. They are Dana Jones, 31, Zachary Berry, 27, and Maria Escobedo, 22.
Police said the video shows Richardson being struck, kicked and thrown to the ground, but the attack stopped after a store employee came to Richardson’s aid.
Police responded to a shots fired call and upon arriving at the store found Everett and Seymour lying face down on the ground. They were pronounced dead at the scene.
After the store employee stopped the fight Richardson retrieved a gun from his car and both Everett and Seymour start to approach Richardson. As Everett bends over to pick something up, Richardson shoots both men, the complaint said.
Richardson is currently in the Beaver County Jail after being denied bail.
The three other suspects were arrested Friday afternoon and are also in the Beaver County Jail after being unable to post bail. All three face charges of aggravated assault, simple assault and reckless endangerment.
