Pennsylvania State Police say they are probing an alleged attack on a deputy game warden by two hunters Saturday morning in Norwegian Township, Schuylkill County.
A physical altercation occurred between the hunters and the warden around 10 a.m. after police say he stopped the pair for riding an ATV in a forested area. The warden was responding to an apparent hunting violation when he stopped the pair.
State police have released few details of the incident, but did say the warden fired one shot during the altercation. The pair fled the scene on the ATV and remain at large.
The warden was treated for undisclosed injuries at a local hospital and authorities say they are searching for the pair who were not identified.
