A traffic stop late Friday led to the arrest of a Pittsburgh couple, the seizure of thousands of bags of heroin, marijuana and cash, authorities said.
A six-month investigation by the Allegheny County District Attorney’s Office along with federal drug agents and local police led to the stop and the arrest of Farren Mason, 59, of Pittsburgh, a District Attorney’s Office spokesman said.
After the stop, police searched Mason’s home on North Homewood Avenue and recovered 10,000 bags of heroin, 15 pounds of marijuana and an unspecified amount of cash, according to authorities.
Authorities also arrested Mason’s wife, Ernestine Mason, 59, and charged her with obstruction of justice.
Farren Mason faces federal drug possession, possession with intent to distribute heroin and possession with intent to distribute marajuana charges.
