Kenneth Parker, 18, of Elliott, was charged Wednesday with attempted homicide, robbery and other offenses.
A criminal complaint said Parker shot a 35-year-old man inside a car on Bucyrus Street during an alleged drug deal.
Just prior to the shooting, that occurred around noon, the victim went to Bucyrus Street to buy heroine from a drug dealer named “Lil Bro,” police said.
The victim was told to park his car and “Lil Bro” would approach him. When the victim arrived in the area, he said he saw three men walking towards his car. One of the men, who was later identified by surveillance video and witness statements to be Parker, entered the victim’s vehicle.
Parker placed a gun to the victim’s head and said, “I’m gonna blow your head off if you don’t give me the money,” the complaint alleged.
The victim told police that he did not believe the gun was real and was shot in the stomach while he was struggling to push Parker out of the car.
Police located the gun they believe Parker used in the shooting while searching his home on Crucible Street.
The victim was able to drive himself to the Zone 6 police station and was then taken to Allegheny General Hospital where he is listed in critical condition.
Parker is in the Allegheny County Jail, and his preliminary hearing is scheduled for Nov. 1.
