A Wilkinsburg man is facing charges from an incident early Sunday in which he allegedly held a woman hostage in her apartment while her grandchildren were there.
County police have charged Johnny Johnson, 25, with aggravated assault, robbery, unlawful restraint, false imprisonment, terroristic threats, indecent assault, simple assault, recklessly endangering another person and carrying a firearm without a license
Police alleged in a criminal complaint that Johnson pistol-whipped the woman, robbed and beat her, and threatened her three grandchildren.
Wilkinsburg police responded at about 2 a.m. to a woman screaming for help in the 1200 block of Wood Street. The woman told police that at about 12:30 a.m., she let Johnson and a friend of his into her apartment. While she was sitting in a chair she received a text message from Johnson that said, “This is a robbery,”
The woman told police that when she finished reading the text she saw Johnson holding a gun to her head.
After pistol-whipping the woman Johnson tied her up, continued to punch her and sexually assaulted her, police said.
Johnson then locked the woman in her bathroom and then sexually assaulted one of the girls, police said. She was eventually able to free herself and started screaming for help, which caused Johnson to run naked from the apartment.
A gold necklace was taken during the incident, the complaint alleged.
The woman was treated at UPMC Presbyterian, while the female child along with the other two children were taken to UPMC Children’s Hospital.
