Carnegie police announced Friday that a 16-year-old male has been arrested and charged as an adult in connection with the Aug. 27 robbery of a woman at a PNC ATM. An arrest warrant has also been issued for the teen’s 18-year-old accomplice.

An anonymous tip Thursday led police to obtain video footage from a high school where police say one of the suspects attend. That footage shows the student wearing the same clothing he wore the night of the robbery.  During police questioning he admitted to being involved in the robbery, police say.

He is currently in the Allegheny County Jail. Police have not released his name and a search of online court records was unsuccessful at identifying him.

Police have obtained an arrest warrant for the second suspect, who they have identified as Isaiah Johnson.

Based on information they obtained from the younger teen, police were able to recover both guns used in the robbery, which they found hidden in a wooded area several blocks from the ATM. Police say although they turned out to be BB guns, they “had the appearance of real firearms.”

According to police, at approximately 8:45 p.m., a middle-aged female was robbed after she withdrew money from the ATM.  One of the suspects brandished a firearm and demanded money. The suspects fled on foot after the woman gave them $50.00.
